UPSL Suspends League Play; Trojans FC Looks Forward to the Fall
UPSL SUSPENDS LEAGUE PLAY UNTIL MAY 4TH; TROJANS FC LOOKS FORWARD TO NEXT FALL
LOS ANGELES: Due to the concern about the development of the COVID-19 pandemic, the UPSL has suspended league play until May 2nd, effectively ending our season.
Despite the fact that all of us at Trojans FC were excited to build upon our recent success and continue to expand the club’s image, we have suspended all team functions indefinitely for the safety of our players, coaches, and staff. These are trying times for all of us, and our primary goal is to work together to try and minimize the spread of the virus through social distancing and good hygiene. As of right now, all of us are working remotely to come back better than ever this coming fall.
“I wish everyone well throughout the next few months. We’ve accomplished a lot as an organization and fully intend on hitting the ground running in the fall,” said President Artie Levine.
“We’re grateful for how understanding the league has been in this moment, and sadly this move made sense for all parties involved. It is extremely unfortunate for our year to end this way. In the fall we made history as the first ever university-based team to win a Lamar Hunt Open Cup qualifier, and we later drew the USC Men’s Club team in a game we feel we should’ve won,” said Vice President and head coach Sanjay Sujanthakumar. “We have established ourselves as a highly competitive men’s soccer program at USC and entering the UPSL certainly reflected that. There were a lot of exciting things happening for us off the field as well, and as our organization continues to grow, we look forward to getting back on track in the fall. We are grateful for everything our seniors have given us as well. They have set a tremendous example for our younger players, and as our first ever class to graduate, they will be deeply missed.”
All of us here at Trojans FC wish all of our supporters well, and look forward to making more history next season.
