Trojans FC Players Majed Jendi and Qaleb Pillai play soccer in China!

For the 3rd summer in a row, Trojans FC players have participated in the World Elite University Football Tournament (WEUFT). This year, the tournament organizers and sponsors hosted eleven university teams from four different continents in Wuhan, China. Once more, we are proud to say that USC was only team invited to represent the United States at this tournament.

One of the most fascinating aspects of this opportunity for Trojans FC players, and for the USC community as a whole, was the diverse mixture of the participating teams. There were collegiate teams from every corner of the globe: USC from the United States, Melbourne University from Australia, The University of Tübingen from Germany, Polytechnica Turino from Italy, Cambridge and Oxford represented Britain, and the University of Leiden from the Netherlands, three Chinese university teams, along with a team from South Korea, and The University of Singapore from Singapore.

Besides the actual soccer matches, there were educational panels, ceremonies, and touristic excursions throughout two-week duration of the tournament. All teams had the chance to visit multiple historical places in Wuhan City such as the Yellow Crane Tower and the Yifu Museum. Visiting these places contributed towards the overall experience of all the players in the tournament, as they mixed athletic activity with cultural immersion.

Trojans FC players Majed Jendi and Qaleb Pillai were grateful for the experience they had this summer. Trojans FC as a whole also wants to thank the WEUFT organizers and sponsors for their generosity. Not only did they subsidize the majority of tournament costs again, but they also worked hard to give each team a dedicated guide to help bridge the language gap. The players made lasting friendships as well!

USC family, friends, and students, feel free to ask us more about this experience or future opportunities on any of our social media platforms @sctrojansfc or via email at trojans.fc@usc.edu.!
