Game Vs. Orange County Soccer Crew
This Sunday, February 25, 2018, the Men’s Trojans FC Soccer team traveled out to Las Lomas Community Park in Orange County for an eventful game against the Orange County Soccer Crew. The players arrived at field A at 11a.m. to stretch, warm-up, and discuss their tactics for the game. They expressed their anticipation for the opposing team, and emphasized that their energy should be used efficiently as they would be playing with limited substitutions. The game began promptly at 11:45a.m.
The first half of the game began with two consecutive scores from the Orange County Soccer Team. However, the Trojans FC players were quick to return the pressure as Paul Campbell then scored a goal off of a rebounded penalty taken by Alec Hursh.
After the first half, the players gathered for a water break and debrief. They discussed patterns and tactics that they noticed from the opposing team and how they could adjust their strategy accordingly. A lot of critical communication occured betweened the players, as one midfielder discussed a play he wanted to implement with the offenders, and the goalie made suggestions about how to improve the placement of the defenders. Then, the players gathered in a circle for a quick “Fight on!” before the beginning of the second half.
While the Trojans suffered on the scoreboard the second half, as the Orange County Soccer Crew went on to score again, they remained strong, continuing to go for every shot and put in maximum effort right up to the last second of the game. Unfortunately, despite the valiant effort, the team lost the match.
